Dean's Profile

         Dr.S.Arulchelvan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Media Sciences, Anna University, Chennai, India. Earlier, he had a decade of industrial experience. He has been awarded FCT Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship from the University of Aveiro, Portugal and The Graciano Lopez Jaena Fellowship by the University of Philippines. His specializations are Communication, ICT, Educational and Community Media. He has been passionately engaged in several research projects with the support of UNICEF, Department of Rural Development, Government of Tamil Nadu, ICSSR and other agencies and he completed around ten major and minor research projects.

         He has authored few books and has published more than fiftyarticles in reputed journals. He has also presented papers and participated in various national/ international conferences and visited several countries like Thailand, Turkey, Portugal, Germany, Italy, USA, Philippines, Finland and Canada, Ethiopia, UK. He has been invited as an expert for several workshops. In addition, He has organized many workshops and seminars. Moreover, He has respectable rapport with prominent Indian and foreign professional associations. He has been in the editorial board of many research journals.

         Besides his Teaching, Eleven Doctoral Research Scholars have been successfully completed their degree and awarded Ph.D. under his guidance and five are pursuing which shows his passion in Research. He has also served in various administrative positions. He is the Co-ordinator for the University Curriculum Development. He has developed and written course materials for various subjects in communication and media. He is serving as a member in Board of Studies in many colleges and universities, Academic Auditing Committees, Examination Boards and also serving as a member of Academic Council of Tamilnadu Open University, Chennai and SRM Valliammai Engineering College.

         He is an Advisory Committee Member of the National Service Scheme (NSS) in Anna University. Dr.S.Arulchelvan has conducted many outreach and programs for the development of villages in Tamil Nadu through NSS.

         He is also serving as the Director, Centre for Development of Tamil in Engineering and Technology, Anna University and an editor of a Tamil Magazine "Kalanjiyam" and conducted many workshops for the development of Tamil in Engineering and Technology.

         He took charge as Dean, University College of Engineering Villupuram on 28 August 2019 with a vision and mission to enhance the academic ambience of this wonderful campus.
